Re:  Executive Committee Meeting Update

Dear Chamber Members:

April is upon us and we are proud to announce we have added a new member to the Chamber.

Creative ConKrete Repair & Coating, owner Vince Olds.  Be sure to say hello to him at our next business card exchange.

We had 2 renewing members in the month of March.  Mary Hushour from Long and Foster and Belquest Kennels, Vicky Creamer, we would like to say welcome back.  This brings the total members for 2013 at 169.

Update on the Web Site:

Watch for our announcement about the web site launch.  We are hoping for this month.  If anyone has any pictures taken at our chamber events, please send them to me.  All our pictures from the old web site had not been updated since 2010.  You can send them to me via email at

There are a few items we are working on to complete this great project.  The new Web Site Address will be  We now are working on the encryption aspect so we can have payments processed via credit cards.  When this is complete we will send everyone the link and welcome your comments and ideas.  The people who had thumbnail ads on the old web site will be given special consideration for the time we were not up and running since Feb 2013.


Jim Scales, Sandy Spring Bank, reported we have 33 applications for our Scholarship awards.  Jim and his committee will be meeting at M&T Bank on April 18, 2013.  If you are interested in helping, give Jim a call 301-774-6400 Ext. 6779.  The awards will be given at our May 2, 2013 Luncheon at the Mt. Airy Tavern.

Mt. Airy Phone Book:

Chrissy Jongezoon, Say It! Graphics (Editor of the Phone Book) reported that sales have gone well and are closing.  The committee will be interviewing printers for this year's book.  They are in the process of getting a Non Profit Mailing Permit to cut mailing cost dramatically, which will mean more money for both organizations.  They are on track for the layout and review of the book.


Professional Development:

The Chamber will be having a Training Class on How to work the Network, taught by Todd Burrier on May 20, 2013 at M&T Bank Conference Room, 1001 Twin Arch Rd., Mount Airy, Md. From 9:30am to 11:00am.  Contact Marlene Titus, Miller Center for Small Business, Carroll Community College, to RSVP.

We also decided to table the Leadership Mt. Airy until we can get a few more members involved in helping us to start up this program.  This would be a program similar to the Leadership Carroll  program. We would have assistance from Carroll Community College.

Finance Committee:

The Chamber received a request from the Children's Chorus of Carroll County for a donation to help support their programs. We voted to send them $100.00.
