 Re:  Executive Committee Meeting Update

 Dear Chamber Members:

 We are proud to announce we have added a new member to the Chamber:

Superfoods on Main, owners Helen and Jeffrey Rose.  Be sure to say hello to them at our next business card exchange!

Membership Committee:

Barbara Davis, RE/MAX Realty Plus, Membership Chair, reported we now have 170 Members.

 Update on the Web Site: 

The Web Site is up.  The address is .  If you notice anything out of order, please let me know.  Anyone that has pictures that have been taken at our Chamber events, please send them to me.   We would love to put the new pictures on the Web Site.  Please send them to me via email at  We are all set for our training on how to post things on the web site. 

 It was decided at the Executive Committee Meeting not to have a shopping cart on our web site.  It did involve a cost every month and would not be used often. 


2013 scholarshipw winnerJim Scales and P.W Shaffer, Sandy Spring Bank gave out our Scholarship Awards on May 2nd.  Thanks to our fund rising through our The Mt. Airy Phone Book and our "Wine" Fund Raiser" the chamber was able to award $7,500 in Scholarships this year.  Thank you everyone who helped to contribute and make our scholarships happen.

 The Greater Mt. Airy Chamber is proud to announce our 2013 Scholarship Winners.  They Are:  $2500 to Cassandra Lowell, South Carroll High School; $1,000 to Brooke Evans, Linganore High School; $1,000 to Katelyn Frager, South Carroll High School; $1,000 to Megan Gold, South Carroll High School; $1,000 to Samantha Bingaman, South Carroll High School.

 Mount Airy Phone Book:  (Same report as last month)

Chrissy Jongezoon, Say It! Graphics and Editor of the Phone Book, reported that sales have gone well and are closing.  The Committee will be interviewing printers for this year’s book.  They are in the process of getting a Non-Profit Mailing Permit to drastically cut mailing costs, which will result in a higher donation for both organizations.  They are on track for the layout and review of the book.

 Professional Development:

The Chamber will be having a Training Class on “How to Work the Network”.  See below for details. 

 Finance Committee:

We received a request for an ad in the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company’s 2013 Carnival Program Book.  We approved doing a full-page ad for $90.  We had a request from local middle school students requesting a donation for their expenses to travel to Destination ImagiNation Global Finals in Knoxville, Tn.  We tabled the request until we could get more information and details on the event. 

 We also received 2 thank you notes this month.  One not was from one of our Scholarship Winners, Katelyn Frager and from the Children’s Chorus of Carroll County.
